MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Depending on who you want to believe, massive former University of Miami tackle Seantrel Henderson either quit his pro day or didn’t participate in the final two drills because he was “dehydrated and sick.”

The first report came from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the latter came from Henderson’s agent, David Levine.

It’s just the latest in one of the more bizarre football careers to come through the University of Miami in a long time. Henderson was the top recruit in the nation a few years ago and has prototypical size to be a great tackle in the NFL.

Henderson is 6’8” and weighs between 330 and 345 pounds. He’s got the body to maul opponents, but he’s never been able to realize his full potential due to a variety of reasons from injuries to suspensions to lack of effort.

Stopping your pro day workout, even because you are sick, is not something scouts who already see major red flags hope to find. The Miami Herald said Henderson wasn’t performing well in the drills he was taking part in before leaving the field Thursday.

Currently, NFLDraftscout.com has Henderson projected as a sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft. If he falls that far and uses it as inspiration to mature, surround himself with good people, and truly learn his technique, he could be a major diamond in the rough for an NFL franchise.

But based on his career in Miami, that’s a very big if.

According to the Herald, Dolphins officials are set to meet with Henderson next Thursday and then have the tackle perform in a private workout.
